Minnesota Girl. . .

Hello all, like I said we have a lot to cover. So while Elliott is in bed sleeping off his tonsillitis (i wish he could sleep it off) and I should be weeding, or cleaning, or paying bills, I'm going to do a random blog about where I come from. I was up in Minnesota last week visiting my sister, and going to my 10 year high school reunion. Can I just say how strange it is to have been out of high school for 10 years? Wow! I love going to what was home for so long, and really after going back I have to say it still feels like home. There were memories every where I turned, there is so much history for and my family and I there. Well when I got home I realized that since we moved away I've called Hurricane, UT home and not many of you all may know where I'm really from. So here's a little me history.

I'm a MINNESOTA girl. . .
Warroad, Minnesota to be exact. This is where I grew up and went to school. My mom is from here. For those of you who don't know where Warroad is located, it's 6 hours north of Minneapolis,MN and 6 miles south of the Canadian border.

As you can see it's not that big, but country kids don't need much to have a lot of fun.

Hockey town USA, they have a few more championships to add to that board. We love hockey up north, it's basically life.

This is home. It's a little run down since it got sold to a man that was a little crazy but the new owners are doing a remodel so it will be beautiful again. In this picture you can see some of the yard. . .

This is the front yard(part of it)

This is a "Minnesota" garden, we spend many, many, many hours weeding this garden. My mom heard at least five times a day that I would never have a garden or torture our children by making them weed! It looks nothing like it did when it was ours, it would have been huge and full by now.

This is the barn, and more of the yard, we had 55 acres, it took three lawn mowers one good long afternoon to mow the lawn. We lived in the middle of nowhere. About 20 min. from school, a good 2 1/2 hours from the closest Walmart. We loved it!

This little green cabin small though it may look, held all seven of us and friends for the most amazing summer fun! Our cabin was about 1/2 hour from our house, far enough that it was a vacation, close enough that we could go for an afternoon if we wanted!
This was our cabin on Lake of the Woods, it's a little bigger than it looks but not much, we spent so much time here on the boat, shooting off fire works, and doing all kinds of crazy things. Our neighbors used to call us fish, we were the first in the lake every Spring, and the last our every Fall!

Here's the back of the cabin.

Lake of the Woods, we're in the U.S.A. across the lake is Canada, we were always water skiing and swimming in Canadian waters.

I can't not put in Willy the Walleye, this is a favorite picture opt for the tourists I couldn't help but get a Quayle family picture with him. :)

This is Jemma Bea one of my cousins that still lives up north.

This is my Aunt Jenee who isn't actually a nun but was playing one in the Warroad Summer Theater's production of "Nunsense" which she was actually directing too. We were actually able to catch a show while we were there! Also Sunni my oldest sister who also still lives up north that's who we always stay with! You'll see plenty more of her and her family when I get through the next few blogs. By then she'll probably have had the baby we're all waiting for!

Well there you go a little look at where I grew up, and the place I'll always call home.

I'm so excited to see all those places for the first time! Can you believe I've been in this family for four years and never been up there?

How fun! I am from a small town also. There was about 6,000 people & alot of fun to grow up in. Small towns can be awesome because you know everybody & you learn how to entertain yourself outdoors without all the noise of TV & other distractions. Small time living can be awesome! I loved the pictures!

I loved this post...it was fun to see where you grew up after hearing so many stories of how hard your parents made you work :) Your graduating class must've been so small- how many kids were in your class? I graduated w/almost 200 and that seemed small to me! I loved it though- and I love going back too! You've inspired me to take pictures the next time I visit!

Miss you!!!

55 acres in the middle of no where sounds perfect!!!!! It's what I'd LOVE, but somehow we ended up in a big city! oh how I'd love to see my girls exploring those woods, with picnics and baby dolls!

Loved your look at Warroad... This Roseau gal gets over there every now and then! And tomorrow I'm heading for Roosevelt (steam show)! Bring back any memories? You have a neat blog and a great looking family! Fun to read!
