Day one of Happy Birthday to me!

Today as a birthday present to myself I'm starting a blog about Rome so I don't get any further behind!! And I bought a big Sonic drink all for me, and didn't feel bad!! Happy Birthday day one to me!!
ROME:

Really I don't know how to start, do I blog our days one by one, or should I give one huge overview, or should I do one blog on just fountains, another on churches, another on ancient Rome, and then one on the FOOD??? So many options, but as not to confuse myself, or repeat I think I'll just do our days in order. Wednesday and Thursday will be together since we lost some time and it all got a little meshed together.
Here we go. Wednesday morning. . . no we're going to skip to Wednesday afternoon. We dropped Elliott off at his grandparents house, and left for the airport! Got to Atlanta, and we're very excited that we were given first class seats!!
Here's a couple pictures of Mark enjoying his first, international first class experience.

It was a great trip full of food, and relaxing.
We got to Rome about 7:30am Thursday morning and went through customs. We then decided since the tourist office was closed we'd hop on a train and try figure things out. It was good choice. One train, metro, and bus ride later we arrived at our hotel. We found this hotel on line it's called the EcoHotel, and was actually great! The room was a bit small, but they always are in Europe. It was very clean, and the staff was wonderful! It was affordable, and had an amazing breakfast included in the price! We'll definatly go back next time we're there!
We didn't want to waste the day so we took an hour nap, and then left to find some lunch. We found a cute little pizzaria around the corner from the hotel. The pizza was wonderful! I think we had pizza at least once a day, so yummy!
This picture of Mark, may show you just how tired we were. . . however who needs sleep when you only have 3 full days to tour Rome!
After we finished our pizza we hopped on a bus to Vatican City to see what we could see. This is what we found!
St. Peter's Bascillica
Swiss Guard in the Vatican CityInside the Basilica Michelangelo's La Pieta'
St. Angelo's castle, beautiful. The castle is huge! Can you see Mark in the picture?

St. Peter's from the bridge
Piazza Navona a great plaza where political protests are held! Great fountains!
The best fountain/statue was under construction but I got a cool picture through the window. It was raining, can you tell?
We loved the funny little parts we would see to all the statues. This little lady had a tail.
To end the night we had the most amazing hot chocolate either of us has ever had! We just found a little shop on a side street while we were trying to find a bus stop home. It came as a perfect end to the night, we were freezing by that time, and ready to sit and enjoy something warm! It was wonderful! We marked the street and vowed to make another trip there before we went home. On our last night we went to the street, and searched up and down it, we recognized all the other shops, but could not find our favorite little cafe. It was a sad mystery. At least we got there once!
The two tired, wet, and cold travelers. . . who loved their first day in Rome!
The end of day one! Stay tuned for more of Italia!

Fantastic! Great job sharing, now I see another place I would like to visit. It is good to see these places when you are young and have the energy to walk and walk and of course, are not bionic :).

You made me fell like I was with you.
